This error is haunting my Novell 5.0 servers when I run a dstrace on them. Does anyone know what they are - can anyone irect me to a TID? ========================================

I would run a DSREPAIR to check External References as a start. Then, if the error occurs you may be looking at a hardware problem with a faulty/dodgy network card.

The only details I could get on the -635 error is in the following Novell doc:

"It's true, its damn true!"

Thanks - I saw that too but doesn't mirror the exact dsrepair error... All the servers are getting - and a lot on the main head office server.

I am assuming a faulty NIC on the main server.

TheLad - do you have testing procedures or criterium on troubleshooting a faulty NIC? on a server with multiple NICS? ========================================

The only real way I usually work on is getting some downtime on the server and testing each NIC individually with the others disabled.

Or what you could do to begin with is check in MONITOR / LAN/WAN DRIVERS - tab on each network card in turn and check to see if the statistics are reporting any errors. -----------------------------------------------------

Any TIDs for optimal settings which affect comms? ========================================
