Here's a good one. We run win98se and have Quicktime 6.5.1 on the machines, when we try to run clips from the internet it constantly asks for a connection speed to be setup. I have set the correct connection speed and it does not hold and we cannot run clips from the internet with Quicktime as it always asks for a connection speed but will not play clips. Clips will play if they are local to the machine, Quicktime does not ask for connection speeds.

I have re-installed quicktime 2xs and it has made no difference.

The desktops do run through a proxy server, but it is setup right and not blocking.

If you have encountered this problem and have a solution let me know.

you should try to take a look at this registry key :
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Apple Computer, Inc.\QuickTime\LocalUserPreferences

Look at the StringName FolderPath and if the ValueData is corresponding to you preferences folder, if not, change it to match your system Application Data folder, I tried it and it worked.

I could not find my system application data folder
