I've got a W2k machine that used to have a working version of Netscape 7.1. My client insisted that I remove Netscape and install Mozilla 1.7. Now, whenever I try to access ANY web page, I get a "Connection Refused" message. I've read through what's been posted here about this problem but no one seems to have found a solution. I've also checked the Mozilla forums luck.

This machine was working fine until the Mozilla install. I've even tried reinstalling Netscape but I get the same problem - Connection Refused.

This machine accesses the internet via dial-up modem and I've disabled all firewall protection.

Does anyone have any idea what the problem is and how to correct it?

There's always a better way. The fun is trying to find it!

Edit->Preferences->Advanced->Proxies

Might be something in there, or the Modem Properties might need to be tied in someway, don't have a dial-up on this machine, so I can't prompt you with entries.

Moz 1.7, and Firefox

Will he take Firefox as the latest Moz Browser

Thanks for the reply but there are no proxy settings - and there never has been any. Always connected via modem (had DSL connection last year but had to give it up.)

Like I said, Netscape worked until I installed Mozilla. Now I can't even get Netscape to connect. Could this possibly be caused by a virus? The only thing that makes this seem unlikely is that IE connects just fine.

Any other ideas?

If you have any firewall then either dissable it, or config it so it will let the *.exe files of your browsers to access the internet.

For mozilla, i think, there is a setting
Tools -> Options -> General -> Connection settings
Choose 'Direct connection to the internet'

And if it still mozilla can't get into the internet then try on the address bar

about:config

find the 'network.dns.disableIPv6' and right click on it, choose 'toggle', and try again to browse a page.

Tell me what happen.

you might try reinstalling the Winsock -- that could be giving you some of the problems.
