hi there, need your expertise. not sure whether the problem is on AIX or application.

We have reinstall our AIX 5.1 with RML 07 with 64 bit kerenel and JFS2 os filesystem. Before it was setup as JFS and 32 bit kernel.

the problem now is that when the no of login users goes high they will not be able to login. i have check the number of license users on AIX it is way above from the concurrent users. and i have tried to login on the OS(AIX), i still manage to login.

we are suspecting a problem on database or application. Any inputs will be helpful.

database: oracle 8.1.7.4
application: 11.5.8

OS level= 5.1
RML = 7
kernel - 64bit
FS = JFS2 *including the os fs

thanks.

in addition to my queries..

do you think i need to increase the " Maximum number of PROCESSES allowed per user" on AIX. Currently it is using the default (128)..

If you are running database applications, you must certainly increase this number of processes.each connection has its own process for oracle. We have about 700 connections for user oracle on our machine( just OLTP).We have set this value to about 1500.

regards,

R.

thanks RMGBELGIUM, are you pertaining to the number of processes on AIX or inside the oracle parameters?

I'm talking about the number of AIX processes:

chdev -l sys0 -a maxuproc='1500'

Regards,

R.
