I'm a beginner to Cognos Impromptu and i was wondering how to fix Impromptu to not "time out"? If I leave a report up on my screen and don't rerun it or any other reprot for a while, when I come back to it and try to rerun it, i get a msg that the connection dropped or the connection was lost or something like that.

Is there a setting to increase the amount of time before a time out occurs?

Thanks.

If you are using the Impromptu windows client, there are some timeouts settings in the database options for an ODBC connected database. Mine are set to 0, which is the default, and I have never had a timeout. Connections for MS SQL, Oracle, etc, don't appear to have timeouts, so if you are using a non-ODBC connection, you may be getting disconnected from the database side, and not Impromptu

u can see options in reports administrator. but i suggest not to increase too much unless u got a good server. best way is to improve performance of ur report rather than increasing the timeout value.

regards,
sudhi
