Hi All ,
I am getting this error while trying to connect Analysis Server , anyone faced the same before.

TITLE: SQL Server Management Studio
----------------------------------------

Failed to retrieve data for this request. (Microsoft.SqlServer.SmoEnum)

----------------------------------------
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

A connection cannot be made. Ensure that the server is running. (Microsoft.AnalysisServices.Xmla)

-----------------------------------------------

Thanks in advance for your help.

Make sure that you have the server name correct, and that the Windows Firewall (or another firewall) is not blocking access to the port.

Hi everyone,

I'm not sure if I should start a new fred or if I'm allowed to carry on here but, to make a long story short I have a similiar error. In fact, the exact error is this:

Initialization of the data soarce failed

Check the database server or contact your administrator. Make sure the wxtermal database is available, then try the operation again. If you see this message again, create a new datasoarce to connect to the database.

1. Problem is, I am running out of options in terms of what I can check or change. I have disabled the firewall.

2. The server name is correct because if I connect to a cube via Excel 2007 and the via SSAS then I can see the available cubes. Thing is just that it doesn't create the pivot table.

3. This server is on another domain. I can actually Remote to this box and see everything on this server.

Any suggestions would be very helpfull.

Thx
