hi all,

i just installed red hat 8 and having a problem with the dialup connection. the system can recognize the modem but i'm receiving this:
:
:
Serial connection established
using interface ppp0
connect: ppp0 <-> /dev/ttyS0
/etc/hotplug/net.agent: assuming ppp0 is already up
LCP:timeout sending config-requests
connection terminated
/etc/hotplug/net.agent:NET unregister event not supported
hangup (SIGHUP)
exit

i would be very happy to solve this problem as it's been with me for quite sometimes a& couldn't hook my PC for dialup.

thank you in-advance

now, i am receiving this message under KPPP

Timeout expired while waiting for the ppp interface to come up.

any idea?

Here are some links that may help:

Stupid question, but begs to be asked..does your kernel support ppp dial-up networking. The reason i asked is that alot of the links i have for this issue seem to refer back to that question.
