I have a number of remote sites which I dial into from my headoffice. At my headoffice I have a u.s.r 56k v.92 modem, my pc runs a piece of software that dials to number of remote sites in sequence, establishes a connection with a u.s.r 56k v92 modem and pulls back information to my software. I have 8 of these sites, all of which had been working 100%. However one of them has suddenly stopped. I have reprogrammed the modem in question butthat didn't fix the problem, I then swapped out the modem with a new one, fully programmed and tested off site, but this hasn't worked either. The connection just freezes when the modems have acknowledged each other and the backoffice modem cd light remains on constant. Do you hink something may have changed on the phone line at the problem remote site? Any ideas? Desperate to reolve a.s.a.p

most likely yes if the modem still stalls after you'ved changed it with another one then the problem is not on your end. i would recommend contacting your telco and ask them to run a data transfer test and fix any issues the line has.

Some people make things happen, some people watch things happen, while others wonder what happened.

Might help to have low pass filters on both ends. Available at radio shack for around $10.
And since it is one location there is also the potential that your computer at that location has somehow glitched.
