Does anyone have any experience connecting to a FastRAD via modem? Specifically, my FastRad is not providing DTR. Also, when I force DTR override, the FastRAD does not respond.

Any help or samle configs would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Does your RAD have the built-in modem? Call it from an outside line and transfer the line to the extension port it's connected to. See if it answers with modem tone. A lot easier than trying to do an external modem.

The KSU is not online yet. I am waiting for the T1s to go live. When I called the extension from another extension, there was no answer.
It looks like the modem i was using MAY have been the issue but i haven't had time to completely resolve this issueas of yet.

Thanks for the reply.

Only T1 or are you going to have some POTS lines? If you can, try from an outside CO line, it might make a difference. Also, if you can get your hands on an OLD external modem (9600 or slower) it's easier to get it to talk. They turn up in garage sales once in a while. You can also use AT&N and AT&U to slow the modem down, but most 56K modems don't seem to like to slow down to 9600 or below.

T1 lines only. If I am not getting DTR from the RAD, nothing else is going to happen. Modems do not negotiate speeds until DTR is present

Try connecting the modem to a PC and send it
ATS0=1&D0&Q0&N1&U6
AT&W
Then connect it to the RAD and see what happens.
According to intel, this may make it work with
DCE that does not produce DTR (&D0&Q0)
It also sets negotiation rates to 300-9600 baud.
If the "AA" light comes on, you may be in luck.

Check out
or
for good depth on AT commands.

Of course, not all commands will work with all modems.
