In order to prevents attacks using TCP/IP protocol, i've disabled TCP/IP from network protocols in my SQL2000 server.
Now the problem is that I can't connect to it using Enterprise Manager on my client machine.
I know I have to use named pipes, but I can't configure it.
I've configured a named pipe with the client configuration utility as "\\[SERVERNAME]\pipe\sql\query" in the server the named pipes protocol has the property "\\.\pipe\sql\query".
What do i miss?
Do I need something else on server-side? on client-side?

Tanks for help

The client and server machine shd be in the same domain or
the 2 domains should have a trust relationship between them

We had this problem and we had to TCP/IP as there were in 2 different domains.
