Connecting VB to Progress with ODBC Connection

I trying to connect to a progress database using a vb application with a odbc connection, i have some speed problem (I try to do a Select), it is very slow, is there anyone with a sample of code to do a connection using vb to a progress database.

I Use MERANT 3.60 odbc drivers.
Progress 9.1D version.
