Is it possible to connect two routers together? Having one router (router1) connect to the internet (through a cable modem) and have the other router (router2) act as a switch. Is it possible to make such a connection while having computers connected to router1 to see computers connected to router2? Thanks.

Well a 5 port switch is $15 on ebay but lets assume you are in a hurry.

Disable DHCP in the router you wish to make a switch, two DHCP revers will only hurt you.

if there is an uplink port on one router, use it to connect the LAN ports of one router to the LAN ports of the other. If not, you need a crossover cable. (also about $15 so buy a switch, if you must spend $)

So WAN of main router is to internet, WAN of switch router is empty, LAN ports are connected, either using a crossover or one uplink port.

I tried to remain child-like, all I acheived was childish.

Many consumer and SOHO routers make a distinction between the router acting in "Gateway" or "Router" mode. As Jimbopalmer said, disable DHCP, but as well choose the option for "Router" instead of the default of "Gateway" for the second device.
