Quick question,

I have a client who owns two companies next door to each other.

SITE A is currently setup with a Server and a Windows 2000 Machine acting as a Mail Server and a gateway to the internet (don't ask me why this is the configuration of the network... I didnt implement it). Anyway, he has run a length of Cat-5 from the office next door into SITE A. He wants to give people access to the Server but nothing else.

I was thinking of just sticking a second NIC into the Server but I have been informed that there might be a way to filter packets on the Windows 2000 machine.

i know this might be a little vague but any help would be great. Thanks in advance!

An ACL of some sort is going to be the best way to keep access to just the server. You can configure RRAS on the server and implement routing to do this.

I can imagine many more "nicer" solutions for this. I imagine there isn't much budget for this since the cable is running between the buildings. I keep imagining two cups with a string... :)

NtrOP,

Exactly my senitments! The cup and strings made me laugh... thats basically what this site is! Thanks a lot for the tip though!
