Connecting two linksys routers through vpn

my home linksys router's ip address is 192.168.1.1 and my home computer is 192.168.1.230. at my office the linksys router's address is 192.168.1.1 and my office computer is 192.168.1.231. lmhosts file is used on home computer. i was able to vpn to the office network before i added the linksys router at home. should the routers be part of the same network (i.e. 192.168.1.1 and 192.168.1.2) or different networks (i.e. 192.168.1.1 and 192.168.2.1).


please help,
