I am Wondering if its possible to connect to another companies systems using a VPN. We are a small company of about 15 users and wish to hire a sales company to sell our products for us we are currently using acess dimesniosn for our sales. is it possible to do this by VPN or is there an easier way?

Thank You

It's absolutely possible. Whether it's the best solution depends on what you're doing. There are a variety of considerations.

I don't know anything about "access dimensions", but you might also look into Terminal Services or Citrix. Perhaps it also has a web frontend.

lgarner thanks for that i will look into terminal server as for a variety of considerations at the mins its only theoretical and i guess it depends on the number of users that will be using the program.

For starters you will need a site to site VPN tunnel. You can archive that by using 2 routers one at each site, I currently use Netgear FVS318 they are easy to config. You should also have a static IP at each site but not needed.

As for Terminal Services you may not need that if all you need to access it files. What are you trying to accomplish?

Thanks http dberg35 what im trying to achive is to allow 3 new users to acess a software application on our servers as there at the other end of the country.

Is this software used strictly on the server or are there shortcuts to desktops? If it is use strictly on the server then TS will be your best way to go.

the software is installed on the server and there are shortcuts on some desktops not all thow!

Then using Terminal Services in app mode would work for you. You will however have to purchase TS licenses and they run about $80.

dberg35 thanks for that so i just need to get some terminal services liscences for the users.and then they should b able to log in by remote desktop to our domain if i rember rightly.

When im connecting two companies via ip, i always put ciscos at both ends and build GRE tunnels. This allows both private lans to be accessible to each other over the internet. One problem i have been seeing lately is when i have tunnel up to a remote site that has a AD server, i cannot remote desktop to it, or run an app off of the server while im on remote lan. Works if im physically in the lan. Would terminal services resolve that issue? Besides the domain issues, i get full connectivity with all devices and can fully access remote private lan. Im also running ospf over my gre tunnels. Each client router has a tunnel between two ciscos at my noc. That way if one neighbor goes down, i can still access all remote devices via redundant ospf neighbor. :)

Each Cisco is behind a seperate Wan connection, making it fully redundant by multi-homing. Next is a DS3 line. ;)
