I undertand that to connect to an online SQL Server database I need to use Enterprise manager (rather than FTP).

Can you point me to WHERE within Enterprise Manager you set this up?

(I'm using SQL Server 7)

I'm quite sure what you're trying to accomplish, Steve. Your post title is "Connecting to website", but a SQL Server has nothing to do with Web sites.

You can "register" an SQL Server within EM by right-clicking on the Servers node and choosing Register Server. If you are connecting to an external server (which I assume is the case), you can enter the server's IP address. You'll need to make sure you are using TCP/IP or Multiprotocol on the client (your PC) side; you can do this using the Client Network Utility found in the SQL Server program group. Robert Bradley

If you want to connect to a WEB SQL database then you can create an ODBC DSN.
Specify the IP address in the Server parameter instead of a name. PS make sure you get the latest MDAC (2.6) from Microsoft WEB site. If you have Winodws 2000 Pro it comes with 2.5

I use this with great success.
Did we say E-commerce. You bet. Image having a Database that is accessible from anywhere in the world (baring security issues) this is extremely useful for...
If you Have a fleet of Palm Pilot VII's out there. Then your people are trully connected. So you can create .ASP pages use Access or VB or whatever you fancy to get the data.
