connecting to the network but not getting internet connection

I have a Menotr WL-R4RII wireless router. I have it connected to a Motorola Surfboard Cable modem.
My computer will pick up and connect to the router no problems and there is a strong signal.
I cannot receive any internet through it though can some ome talk me through sorting this out?

Can you tell me if you connect pc directly to cable modem are you getting internet access?

If so check when pc is connected to router you can ping modem.
