A friend and i are doing a project for college that involves distributed databases at the moment we are trying to replicate across a dial up connection but everytime we attempt to connect to each others instance of servers we get the error server does not exist or access denied. We have gone through a whole load of things but seem to be really shooting in the dark if anyone has done something like this before could they let us know how?

Have you changed the Timeout setting on the SQL server ?

Right click on the Server in Enterprise Manager and increase the time out.

Do you each have logins/permissions on the others server?
