Does anyone know how to access a file or directory on a shared drive using the absolute address (server name) instead of the drive letter? Everytime I try to use file:///(server name)/(shared directory name)/(shared file name)
I get an error

"Access to the resource (server name)/(shared directory name)/(shared file name) has been disallowed."

People use different letters to map the same drives to, so using the drive letter is not an option.

Ideas?

The UNC standard is like this:

\\server\sharepoint\file Nate Gagne
nathan.gagne@verizon.net
AKA Nick Burns - Your Company's Computer Guy
"Would you like me to save your game of Minesweeper first?"
