Hi,
A few weeks ago, we reached the max on the number of IP sets on our phone systems (BCM 400 on 4.0.2.03).
Upon installing additional license keycodes we learned that the limitation was actually at the resource split.
Since learning this, we completed the 2/6 to 3/5 split but it seems I am still unable to add new IP phones.
When I connect the new phone it gets stuck at "Connecting to server" stage. And as soon as I free up a DN (by deregistering an existing DN), the phone sets up successfully.
Now that we've ruled out the resource split as the limiting agent, I am wondering if we need to purchase even more IP licenses... And for this I would like to know where I'd need to look in the system to check for whether or not we are indeed at the maximum limit.
Thanks so much in advance for your help.

The 400 supports up to 90 ip phones

How many do you have?

Hi phoneguy,
Thanks for responding.
I am counting 49 IP phones currently up and running in our network.
And I see 69 IP Client seat licenses in the Keycodes area.

Hi Snowman50, thanks for the suggestion.
Is this dones in Resources>Application Resources?
Currently the "IP Clients" application resource reservation reads as follows:
Minimum = 0
Maximum = MAX
License = 69
System Max. = 90

What should I change the Maximum to?

After I changed the resource split, it did perform a reboot. I haven't done another one since.
What does the patching do? And how do I do it?

You should probably call a vendor, you need access to avayas site

Patches are software fixes for bugs in the system

Open up bcm monitor
Check the ip tab and it will tell you how many licence are available and how may have been used

When you deregister an extn it frees up a licence so as ou can register another phone

Go to Telephony>Sets>Inactive DN's.
Look at the "Model" column.
Do you have any inactive DN's for IP Phones?
If not, select a line in the table, double-click the model and change to 1140e/2004/2007/2050.

Thanks for all the responses.

Snowman50 - The BCM Monitor shows that we are using 49 out of 69 IP Client licenses. I've rebooted BCM over the weekend but so far, no difference.
Also, currently we are not under vendor's maintenance contract so unfortunately we are not able to download the latest patches...
The last patch applied were 2012/04/27 for BCM.R400.SU.System.033-201204 (Version 1.0-1.0). I believe our maintenance agreement ended shortly after this date.
Should this have any consequence relevant to what we are experiencing?

SupportDude - In the Inactive DN's screen, I see a bunch of DN's that we are not using. I've tried changing the model of one of these DN's as you've suggested but did not help me register a new phone... Any suggestions?
