I am new to database management and am having a hard time jumping into my company's current database structure. They use Synchronics Counterpoint POS system which uses Pervasive SQL 2000. What Im trying to do is access the databases(customer and product) from my workstation and I cant seem to create a System DSN. I looked at the server's ODBC configuration and noticed that they only have Pervasive Engine Interface in System DSN. From what I was reading in Pervasive's client documentation(which is very limited) that the server needs to have Pervasive Workstation Engine Interface setup in the System DSN. Now I warn you im new to DBMS and could be completely off with any or all my assumptions.

Thanks in advance

I only have limited experience with P.SQL 2000, but I think they have named he two engines transactional and relational - the relational one is the one that lets you access the data through SQL - is this one running on the server?

Tom,
Thanks for the response. I realized what the problem was... I set the System DSN wrong in ODBC management. I was trying to access the computer name in standard netbios naming \\computer but all you need is Computer. Stupid little things like that always get me hung up... Thanks for the assistance.

did you manage to connect to the database in the end? if so did you ever query the orders? I am trying to query the orders and I can not find a way to tell a cancelled order against a valid order...
