I have created a bunch of reports in MS Visual Studio 2005 and they run fine when I connect through VS. However when I deploy them (along with the same datasource) to my local Sql Server Reporting Server instances and try and run them I get the following error:
* An error has occurred during report processing.
Cannot create a connection to data source 'Checkpoint'.
ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified

I can connect to the Oracle server through SQL client also, so I think it is something to do with SSRS. Any help appreciated.

Thank you,

Sounds like you need to have a look at the TNSNames.ora file on the reporting server. You may not have the Oracle instance defined there.

How do you identify the Oracle instance?. Below is the TNSNames.Ora file. Is there anything else that needs to be added ?

P485.world =
(DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS_LIST =
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(Host = 135.2.XXX.XXX)(Port = 1529))
)
(CONNECT_DATA =
(SID = P485)
(GLOBAL_NAME = P485.oracledb.ups.com)
(SDU = 1450)
(TDU = 2900)

Thank you

swenri - you might need to post this in the Oracle forum - as you're more likely to get a reply.
