Hi,

I'm trying to connect to an Oracle 8 db using the PB database setup in PB7. I received this error:

"Please connect as the Powerbuilder Catalog Owner. This is necessary for the initial connection to Oracle to GRANT privileges on the repository."

I can connect perfectly well on Oracle client. I have other database profiles connecting to Oracle 8 stored in another server and it works.

Can give me some insights as to what I'm missing here?

Thanks.

in the tab "system", in the field powerbuilder catolog table owner, insert the log id you used in the "connection" tab.
this should get rid of your error. --

Simon

PB creates the extended attribute system tables in your Oracle database to store extended attribute information. You must specify a PBCatalogOwner name for the initial connection. Default value for Oracle is 'SYSTEM'. Type it on the 'System' tab of 'Database Profile Setup' dialog box.
Call help from this tab of dialog for more information.
On another server this system tables exist already.

Excuse me. You must specify login and password with DB administrator's privileges on the 'Connection' tab too.

Thanks for your replies.
I had the "SYSTEM" as a PB Catalog owner in System tab when it was not working. As Simon has suggested, I changed the value of the PB Catalog owner to the value of the log id in the "connection" tab. It works!

I appreciate the input.
