We are expanding into a new office within our building with existing cat3 voice wiring. Basically I just need to connect our phone switch to the new wiring closet. I have done this before by using 2 prewired Connectorized Demarc Blocks (66type) with a prewired 100' 25 pair run inbetween(made for a quick install without tracing/punching wire.
So Basically what I am asking is:

1) Is this the best method? Currently we use 110 blocks.

2) What do you recommend and what is the best website to order online from?

Thanks much!!

If the site is already using one type of termination, Why complicate thinks by using two.
I have been to sites where the Telco and paging are on 66 blocks, voice on 110, and data in patch panel. Makes it easy to figure out what is what by a glance, but need to change blade for connectivity between the different types.

Good Luck!!

You can get pre-connectorized 110 blocks. Panduit makes one type. Anixter or Greybar carry them.

I like to use 110 Blocks for Station cable and 66 Blocks for CO lines. The 66 Blocks makes it easier to connect the same CO line to multiple locations. The 110 blocks are more compact and make for a cleaner looking installation.

Obviously there are several ways to make this work for you. Assuming you are moving into the new spot, is it already wired for voice cabling and if so what type of block does it terminate on? I would match whatever is in that telecom closet. It is not really an issue if you have 110 blocks at your PBX and this new closet is all 66 blocks. What is a pain is the different types in the same closet when you are running jumpers.

So, I would match what the station cabling is terminated on in the new closet. There are several manufacturers to consider, Lucent, Panduit, Siemons to name a few. I buy wholesale from Graybar, North Supply, Anixter and the like so I don't really know where to send you to order online.

Good Luck!
It is only my opinion, based on my experience and education...I am always willing to learn, educate me!
