Hi.

This question might be somewhat unrelated, but I was wondering if it possible to connect to a remote instance of mysql running on the provider that hosts my website.

Basically, I want to be able to access the tables within my database, without having to use the phpMyAdmin web interface. I want to *directly* access my database through a local ODBC connection running on my local windows machine.

Does anyone know if web hosting providers typically offer this service?

Thanks,

If they do, they're idiots.

It is a very, very, very stupid thing to allow database servers to be seen by the open Internet.
