Hello

I have a users laptop with XP pro on it. I have configured the laptop to connect to the school network.
Ie Laptop configured with static IP Address of 192.168.46.220 and subnet mask as 255.255.0.0 and DNS as 192.168.1.200 and in the internet explorer is set to use the proxy settings of our network.

Now the user says when she goes home and connects the laptop to the router through LAN cable she cannot connect to the internet.
I have told her to disable the proxy settings and enable DHCP when at home and enable proxy and assign allotted static IP to the laptop when at work.

Is there any other way to stop this from keep switching the settings so that the laptop connects to internet both at a home and work/Is there any script to run on the laptop when it is at different places

Thankyou

You could run a batch file that does the setting change.

So all the user would have to do is double click a shortcut on the desktop to go from one setting to the other.

You can use the Netsh command for this purpose.
