Connecting to an AIX machine through a Win2k VPN

I've set up a Windows 2000 PPTP VPN from my home PC to my office. As part of the office LAN, we have an IBM AIX machine we telnet to for access to some of our software. I'd like to be able to do this through the VPN. Is there a way to set up a route that would allow this?

if the AIX box is on the LAN, you should be able to VPN to the LAN (assuming that is what you are connecting to, and not to a server on the LAN) then just use the IP of the HP AIX box to telnet to it. It may not accept IPs outside of its LAN, and you will most likely get an outside IP. Your AIX admin should be able to add the VPN subnets into the allowed range for the telnet to the AIX if that is an issue.

If you VPN to a machine on the LAN, then you must make sure that that machine allows connection made to it to access the LAN, then you can make a route on that box that states that all traffic from you can go out to the AIX's IP. or whatever you need it to say, within reason.

Here is how our VPN and LAN are set up:

Outside PC (address range xxx.xxx.xxx.221-235)
|
Internet
|
Router and Firewall
|
Win2k Server (xxx.xxx.xxx.94 and 95)
|
LAN (xxx.xxx.xxx.64-127)---AIX (xxx.xxx.xxx.92)

The LAN is connected to the Internet through first a PIX 506 firewall and then a Cisco 1000 Series router. The VPN is set to connect to the Win2k server through the .94 adapter, and then to the LAN through the .95 adapter. Most of the LAN is set on subnet 255.255.255.192. When I connect to the VPN from home, the home PC displays it's subnet as 255.255.255.0. I've looked further, and the VPN Client can only ping the addresses of the server. I can view the PCs on the network, but cannot browse or ping anything but the server. I know I've got to be missing something, and to be honest, I haven't dealt much with VPNs before, and am learning as I go. Any help you could give would be appreciated.
