Unfortunately MS has withdrawn the "approval" version of SQL 7 - which you were able to use for free for a limited period. This has been replaced with SQL Server 2000 - for $25 000!!!
Try Interbase 6. It comes with Delphi and costs you nothing. You would then be using a full-blown server
with a relatively small footprint on your PC.
