Connecting to a queue manager on a remote machine

Hi,
I need to connect to a queue on a remote machine which is behind a firewall from my local workstation which is also behind another firewall.
How do i set the MQSERVER environment variable on my PC for this to work?
Is it possible for a port to be opened on both the firewalls for the remote machine and specify this when we set the MQSERVER environment variable.
