Connecting Quick Edition to IPO via SIP Trunk

Hey, all.

We've been kicking around a couple of ideas for some of the bigger accounts we have. We specialize in the IP Office, but for 2-3 of our big customers we install the One-X Quick Edition due to the size of their stores. However, we are looking to resolving some of the costs for each location having individual phone lines--

I'm wondering if anyone has tried connecting a Quick Edition (or another type of SIP-based gateway) to an IP Office via SIP Trunks. The ideal goal here is to have 1-2 PRI's on the IP Office, and have multiple stores (using One-X phones) call back to the IP Office for incoming/outgoing. That way, the customer consolidates their many phone lines into a single bill, and thus saving them money. Of course, this would also give us the opportunity to move some of their older sites off Merlin/Partner systems and onto the Quick Edition.

Just a random thought and question. Any thoughts on the idea would be appreciated. We may still leave 1 copper line per location specifically for 911 dialing, as trying to organize 30+ locations with the different police departments would most likely be a complete and utter disaster.

Thanks in advance!

My opinion is use a small office for those locations
Easyer to maintain that customer instead of using different type of pbx
The way the quick edition works is different then the ipoffice

I don't even know if you can connect them by sip

I completely agree, however none of the locations are connected via VPN or other type of network connection. Most of the locations are retail stores. Although I would love if for them to rehaul their network scheme and get all the locations connected, I don't think they would go for it.

It's still in the category of a "thought process" at the moment, so no definite plans to do this yet. Just something we're trying to work the theory out on.

They could go to a same internet provider for all the stores.
This will not give you QOS guarantee, but it could stay in the same network. And maybe they wil get a discount when they change all at the same time.

It works! Now if only I could remember what I did...

Try it, set up a trial location and see if it works the way you want it to work
If it works then do the rest if not do a trial with an ipoffice and evaluate again

you can link ip office and one x via sip! but why not just put in ip phones in remote offices, cheaper and more reliable...
