I need some help on how to connect an HP Laser Jet printer to the Legend's SMDR port. I administer the Legend from the MLX-20 set. All I want to do is print out the system reports (my printer is a few feet from the Legend system). From the various threads, I understand I need to have a DB 9-Pin to DB25 25-Pin Serial Adapter and an AT&T 355AF Console Adapter RS232 to RJ45. How do I connect these together? Will a CAT5 lan cable work as the cable? I found the parts on Ebay, but haven't purchased any yet. Thanks in advance for the help!!

You would need a PC with a serial port and some sort of either SMDR app or just raw serial program like Putty. Yes a standard patch cable work.

Serial to Parallel converter

If you're going to to the trouble to connect a PC running Terminal or Putty to capture the output and direct it to the printer, just install WinSPM and start using it for system programming

Probably need a serial to USB. I can't remember the last parallel printer I saw, but it was probably a tractor feed. [dazed]
