connecting oracle reports to oracle 10g

Good Day!
I do have an oracle reports 6.0 and oracle 8.0 in my pc and its working fine. I have installed oracle 10g and it works ok when i try to connect via sqlplus but when i try to connect via reports 6.0, it will give me an error:

REP-0501: Unable to connect to specified database
ora-12203: TNS:Unable to connect to destination

i have tried copying the tnsnames entries from oracle 10g to oracle 8.0 but it still doesnt work.

Your help will be appreciated.
