Getting ready to migrate from our NEC IPS 2000 systems and replacing all sites with Avaya gear. We will need to keep connectivity between the two at a couple sites so we can four digit dial to and from the NEC sites as we migrate to the Avaya over a phased period.
Looking for the best solution to tie the NEC and Avaya together whether by tie lines or using Q-Sig, knowing that we will get some feature transparency with Q-Sig.

T-1 or PRI card for Tie lines what are the pros and cons?
Q-Sig what are the pros and cons?

A T-1 tie line is the cheapest method. QSIG is pricey and a PRI will only work if the distant end is set as a network. You can do 4 digit dialing, but you will have no feature transparency. QSIG offers limited feature transparency, and for the price is not worth it. Since you are phasing out the NEC it does not seem too wise to throw much money into it.

Groovy
I know from shopping around that the Q-Sig card plus another CCIS link would be alittle spendy for what we would get out of the integration.
I do have on hand a couple PN-DTA cards that could go either T-1 or PRI. I just need to make sure that the Avaya can be the 'Network' before setting up as a PRI.

We have connected an IPS to an IP Office using ISDN E1 connections, not sure how much avaya support it but you can change its E1 to be a CO(network)( cant do that on the NEC side) and for Qsig you would need a CCIS license and a different firmware on the DTA card.

Name number display was the limit of features if i remember rightly
