I have a client who has three printers (a Compaq A900, and two old Panasonic dot-matrix) connected to his PC via LNP1. The cabling (starting from the PC) goes from LNP1 to a manual switch. Switch position "A" routes to the Compaq A900, position "B" goes to dot-matrix #1, and position "C" goes to dot-matrix #2.
Due to a very serious virus and spy-ware infestation, I had to do a clean install of the OS (to include all Windows updates, including SP2) but now none of his printers will talk to the PC. Of course, the client doesn't have any of the installation disks or manuals for the printers nor does he know how the printers were configured to begin with.
I downloaded the drivers for the A900, ensured the manual switch was in the "A" position, and installed. Right in the middle of the installation I get an error message that says "Installation Incomplete". I haven't even attempted to tackle the dot-matrix line printers yet.
Any suggestions?
All great accomplishments were once considered impossible.
