Connecting Merlin Magix to Laptop Modem

Im trying to connect to the WINSPM program from Merlin Magix system using my laptops internal modem.Im trying to connect to an offsite location . I keep getting a pop up saying it can't connect to the TAPI. I changed the TAPI setting but still its unable to connect.
What am I doing wrong?
I have vonage as my phone providor does that matter?
Do I have to change some modem settings?
HELP!!!!

VoIP and WinSPM don't mix...you need a land line to connect
to your offsite switch.

If I use a regular land line do I need an external modem or can I use the internal modem built into my toshiba laptop that I use?
If not what can I use??

Connect your "real" phoneline to the modem and place the call! You won't know until you try it. Internal or external, a modem is a modem...

As far as "VoIP and WinSPM don't mix.." it is really a case of VoIP and MODEMS don't mix.
