We have a small town client who is looking to connect their library to the existing merlin legend in the town hall.

I was wondering if anyone knows of a third party vendor who has come up with a product to emulate a T1, or some other means use UDP without updating the switch. Any ideas would be great!

Multitech has a line of gateway devices that can be configured to allow similar features.

With the right programming, you can make it nearly seemless.

Rad Data Communications makes an outstanding box that does what they call "TDM over IP". It's straight UDP encapsulation (there's no VoIP conversion prior to the payload fill). What that means is speed, efficiency, and perfect support of proprietary protocols. Check out
Check this out: I have successfully networked a Legend and a MAGIX using these boxes and a Tsunami wireless router. Step back!

We tried the Multitech stuff, but after months of problems, and multitech coming to our location, it would not work. 3 Magix switches through fiber.

We ended up going with the RAD's that dagwood suggests, and all is well....
