What version of Mac OS do you have? Are both computers behind a router or are you connecting the computers directly to each other?

I believe jmaddone is asking...

Is your ethernet connector a direct connection with a crossover cable or are you running a hub, router or switcher between the two computers?

With the info you most recently provided...

If you are using a basic crossover ethernet connector:
1) set up a shared folder on the PC
2) on the Mac, choose 'Connect to Server' from the 'Go' menu
3) enter the IP address for the Windows PC
