Hello,

I am hoping this will be an easy question!

I have a laptop with a software VPN connection allowing me to connect to the corporate network.

Once I establish this connection, I would like to 'somehow' plug my Cisco IP Phone into my laptop and connect into our call manager.

Does anyone know how I might do this? I was hoping it would be as easy as connecting wirelessly to the internet, use the VPN client to log in, and plug the IP phone into my network slot.

Thanks for your help!

That won't work but you can use IP communicator which is CISCO's softphone and runs on your laptop.

While I haven't applied it to a VoIP, that may be possible depending on your VPN client. In the past I had a PC with two NICs running a routing service. After running the VPN client, the PCs on the LAN side could route their traffic through the VPN software and out the WAN side. In theory, if you have two NICS and a cross over cable, you can use the Windows Internet Sharing service to do the same with an IP desk phone.

As whykap says, you are just better off using IP Communicator.

Thanks for your help!

I'll HmmG3's solution first, then see if I can hunt down this IP Communicator softphone.
