Has anyone used a Linux DB2 federated server to connect to DB2 on OS400? Would anything have to be installed on the AS400 for this to work? Is a federated server my only option if I want to write queries on DB2 Linux that references some tables from DB2 OS400? I've read some articles that discuss using DRDA and DDF, but I haven't been able to determine exactly what this refers to.

I've found some articles that say I will need to install DB2 Connect, and other articles that say I don't. Can anyone confirm or denie this? Our AS400 administrator is a little gun shy, so I probably do not have the option of installing anything on it. That is why I'm hoping I can do everything from the DB2 Linux box.
