I understand that my BB 8320 can be connected to my laptop through Desktop Manager and use as a modem. I have read about setting up with Hyperterminal to go to the Internet and that works fine but unable to get connected thru ProComm for terminal emulation to switches. Does anyone have a step by step setup for this

Its no different than using your desk computer, so the same issues apply. If you are using Procomm then you will need a Telnet Server Application or Telnet into your Signaling Server.

I tether my blackberry and then VPN into our network and use a Rlogin simulation program called ZOC from Emtec.com. Zoc uses scripting too and I just find it easier to use a program that supports Rlogin.

But again, I can use Procomm too with some of my scripts by logging into my Signaling Server on my larger systems.

if you are trying to use it as a dial up modem it will not work.that features is gone all new phones do not offer analog signal anymore.the last one I was able to use in that manner was a motorola Razor a few years back.

That's a good point. I am Verizon and I have to pay a $15 tethering fee.
