Hey Guys,

Got a customer that has BCM400 with 3.6 that wants to connect to an Avaya system in another state, to do 4 digit dialing. I have never done IP trunking to another IP system besides another BCM.

I am trying to keep this customer from replacing the BCM.

Does anyone know if this can be done?

I've never tried H.323 from a BCM to an Avaya. The biggest problem may be that the Avaya will want to speak QSIG, and the BCM doesn't speak QSIG in North America (but it does in the UK).

It will most likely need to be configured as a gateway type of "other". A gateway type of Net Meeting works sometimes when talking to other non Nortel devices.

You may be able to get them to communicate, but I doubt you'll get any CPND, caller ID, or any other intelligence across the link.

thanks for the respounce biv343. I had talked to their Avaya rep it the BCM does need to talk QSIG. Looks like my options are very limitted.
