I want to connect an application server to the Norstar. The application server has its own telephony board interface. Ideally we will be connecting to an FXS interface that will also provide disconnect supervision.
I actually work for the application server developer, and unfortunately I don't have access to a Norstar switch or indepth Norstar documentation. I have been able to source some information on-line that gave some background information on the product. I have some residual questions that I am hoping a Norstar guru can answer.
I am looking for an FXS interface, and ideally one with Disconnect Supervision.
The ATA interface provides the FXS interface I need [battery, dialtone and ringing] but the information I have indicates that the ATA interface does not provide disconnect supervision.
Question:
Can you confirm that disconnect supervision is not available with the ATA interface, how about with the ATA-2 and subsequent releases [if there were any], would they support Disconnect Supervision?
Some of the Trunk modules have disconnect supervision, for example the LS/DS Analog Trunk Cartridge. I was not able to lay my hands on much information on this card, but my assumption would be:
1) It is an FXO device, [on-hooks off-hooks]. It is designed to receive loop battery/dialtone/ringing from the Central Office it can not generate this signaling itself
2) It only acts as a recipient of disconnect supervision signals from the Central office, it cannot generate the battery reversals or battery interruption signals used to indicate call state changes in a disconnect supervision service.
Question:
Can the LS/DS Analog Trunk Cartridge act as an FXS interface? Can the LS/DS Analog Trunk Cartridge generate as well as receive disconnect supervision signals?
