Has anybody had any experience updating an Access database via an mdb export from ms project?

My boss would like to design a schedule and then have it imported into an access database for reporting purposes etc.

The export to mdb is easy enough but the table names and fields are rather cryptic.

I have been searching around for a data dictionary of the exported tables and field names, or even a sample db but no luck

You should be looking for MSProject Database schema. e.g.

Alternatively you can open the project from within Access using VBA and read objects such as Tasks or Resources to create your own tables. There are good examples in the Microsoft:project forum here. I suspect that the data held within Tasks and Resources would meet your boss's reporting requirements.

Thanks for reply! Through some trial and error I found out that MSP_TASKS and MSP_TEXT_FIELD had all of what I needed to create a schedule and dump it out to my Access Db.

The schema will be of great help as I begin to add on.
Learning my way around the Project object model is next.

Looks like I will be holding off on converting to Project 2007 as they have removed the save to mdb!!!?????.

Does anybody understand Microsoft's reasoning was behind that?
