I've tried to search for a solution to this problem but I have serious troubles just putting it into words let alone search phrases. Anyways, here's what I need to do:

There is a shared folder on a Windows XP Professional PC which is on a Windows 2000 domain

The PC which needs to access this folder is not part of the domain and cannot be (as it exists in a Novell environment)

I have a valid domain login

The remote PC and local PC are on different subnets of the same IP range and can ping each other without a problem.

Now, when I attempt to access the share on the XP PC I get a login screen to computername.domain.com. I enter the username and password for the domain and hit OK. It immediately comes back with the login screen again except for the username has been changed to be LOCALPC\username.

Is this a local security setting somewhere? Why is it filling in the computer name of the local machine at the username prompt?

Any help would be great. Thanks.

Nevermind, stupid question. I just reread it and realized I needed to manually enter domainname\username in the username field.

One of those days...

Im not sure why you think you cant add a novell client pc to a windows domain, ive got 40+ machines running the novell client and are domain members. The novell client will sync passwords from eDirectory with AD so its single signon also.
