Has anyone tried to connect a jukebox (like a Dell PV130T) from a HBA (Qlogic 2200) to the Bridge (Dell 35F) via Optical Fibre and of course the Bridge to the SCSI Jukebox via a standard SCSI Cable.

Note this is NOT going through a switch (dell 51F) because that would require SmartMedia. (? that is what I'm told)

The OS is Win2k just to make things even more confusing.

Just in case anyone cares;
You know you have the optical cables hooked up right by going into the scsi utilities when win2k boots (alt q on a qLogic ql2200) and it sees the scsi chain as terminated. After this the DLT7000s will show up in win2k under Control Panel, Admin tools, Computer Management, Device manager, Tape Drives (NOT under SCSI devices like WinNT) and a Medium Changers section will appear with an unknown device in it. You need to change the driver for the unknown device to the one on the support.dell.com website. then run jbconfig and you are good to go.

HI WW,

Legato currenlty only supports two HBA's with win2K. If you look under their SAN compatibility pages you can find the latest. We had big problems trying to hook up an emulex box with LP8000's over fibre. ON the win2K platform it keep giving us bogus "need to be cleaned errors" We think these were nusiance errors because thereal problem was that the box eventually hung on nsrjb and nsrmm process.
Eventually we convinced the owners use NT4.0 and they are humming alond. From this experience Win2K seemed to be unprepared to the fibre technology...at least on emulex HBA's.

food for thought no real solution.

Got it all connected but now when i try and label a tape it continues to show as unlabeled in the operations screen. After that I can't unload the tape from the drive.
Barcode labeling is turned on for the jukebox and the tape has a valid barcode label on it. (399 i think)

very strange.
