Hello,

In order to limit the size of our main database, we have created a second one with only 1 table: itemnumbers and JPG of the items (in the maindatabase we only have BMP of the items).
In one report we select from the main database different items to be printed and we want to print the itemJPG's from the second database.
Both databases use ODBC.
(In what way) can we connect the two databases in this report?

Greetings, Jeroen Boon.

You need to create a report using both of the database tables and link them via the itemnumbers which I assume are unique in the BMP table i.e. one entry per itemnumber. You can then use the JPGs and all the other information as though they are in one table.

Hello basil3lgs,

that is ofcourse the way to join two tables, I know that. But the problem is, we need to select 2 tables from 2 different databases in 1 report. After selecting the tables from the first database, the tables from the second database are not visible!

Jeroen Boon.

Their is something strange going on here because you shouldn't have a problem doing this. If you try and add the second table, presumably you are going to "add database", then in the Data Explorer, choosing ODBC, then from the list the second database. If you click on the + to the left of this, are you saying no tables appear at all?

If I'm reading him right, he wants to combine two different tables and treat it as one. We have a similar need. We have one table with undergrad and one with grad students. We need a combined listing from both. Not just students in both but all students.

I was under the impression he had 2 tables in seperate databases, one had all the item details in it, the other, just the itemnumber and the picture. In which case, assuming the itemnumber is in both tables, these should link fine.

Even if he has 2 totally seperate, unrelated databases, he should still be able to see the tables listed in the databases (even if a report created from them wouldn't run!), which he apparently can't.
