Hi,

I have RH 7.3 with qmail, vpopmail, courier-imap and squirrelmail. Everything is working fine when I send email without attachment. I only encounter a problem when I try to send single 6 MB+ attachement. The message sits in the remote queue.

This is a log I get "delivery 1: deferral: Connected_to_x.x.x.x_but_connection_died._(#4.4.2)/"

I tried setting the eth0 MTU=900, without any luck.

I like to know...have anyone solved this problem??

I appreciate any advice [dazed]

Sleipnir214 Thanks for suggestion. The foreign server is able to receive the same attachement from another email server.

Despite the fact my email server is PII 266 w/ 384 MB memory, it does not eat up lots of resources...there is plenty of free resources (top command) Currently, I only have 6 email accounts on this server...I need to work out the bugs before I can put it into production.

Is there any configuration changes I can make to help the process.

You need to check your qmail-send run file an up the memory size for it. Its probably in /var/qmail/control/qmail-send/run

increase the value to 10000000 (10 MB of RAM per instance) and see if it can handle the work.

You are running out of the protected memory available to the daemon (I think). Be sure to restart qmail.

You SHOULD try to scale back down the value that you allocate, otherwise you could burn up physical RAM rather quickly if you are sending a lot of copies at the same time. Experiment by rolling the value down 1MB and try again.
