Connect with Pervasive 8.6 with Win Media 2003 1

Hi,

I am using VB.Net to build my first application on a Symbol bar code scanner that has Windows Media 2003 on it. We are using Pervasive V8.6 and I was wondering how/if I could access our data.

When the Symbol rep was here he said I may have to pull the records into SQL Server and then read SQL Server with the scanner. I have a SQL Server database available, which is used on our web site, but I was looking for something that doesn't take so many steps to get the data on the scanner.

Does anyone have any experience or suggestions?

I was hoping you would see this post because I saw your answers to other questions. Thank you for the url, but being new to this I am not sure what to do from here.

I need to access data through the wireless scanner on our network. I currently make a connection to SQL Server and retrieve the data. Is there anyway to do that with Pervasive?

Currently, there's no direct way to use a Pocket PC / PDA to access Pervasive.SQL data. You can, however, create a Web Service and consume that web service from a Pocket PC with a Wireless connection. If you need local storage, you'll have to use something other than Pervasive because there isn't an engine available. I've asked Pervasive for one but they haven't made it yet. You might contact them and ask them for it.

Thanks, I guess best bet is to put the data into my SQL database and access it there.
