connect to oracle with or without oracle client

Please, I need your help.
I am a junior dba sql server and I want to know if I must install oracle client to connect to an oracle database, with Oracle Provider for OLE dB.

I want to create a DTS which will run every week and will transfer an oracle table into a sql server table.

I don't believe you need to install the Oracle client to import Oracle Data. DTS comes with an OLE-DB provide for Oracle which can be used to connect to the Oracle Database. You will find this under the "Other Connection" Connection task.

You will need to supply a Server name, User Name and Password, but that should be all you need.
