linux/perts,

i'm trying to hookup to our office network and gain internet access.

i was able to access our network using win2k with a usrobotics sportster faxmodem 56k (hardware).

for unknown reason to me - so far, i can't connect the same way in my linux OS. i'm getting this:

Connecting to: <Connection name>
Answer
Log Cancel

and in my:

Login Debug Window

OK

OK

Connect 9600/ARQ

Am i missing something here?

Settings are :

/dev/stty0
9600
PAP
CRTRTS
DNS
automatic

I would appreciate any idea or feedback.

Thanks in advance.

Most likely, you are running a "Winmodem". This is a modem that depends on Windows to load some of the required drivers to run.

I ran into this while setting up a Linux 6.2 system a few years back. I resolved it by getting a general US Robotics EXTERNAL modem.

Bill.
